View this post on Instagram This was the first time I've ever asked a stranger if I could take their picture. Behind the scenes: As I walked down an alleyway I passed the woman above. She looked to be on break in the back of the restaurant. I immediately saw her orange shirt perfectly framed by the garage door and green walls. Distracted by her phone, she never looked up. We were the only people in the alleyway and I would need a few seconds to frame the picture properly. I couldn't take it candidly. I walked on. Overwhelmed by the awkwardness. What preoccupies a man's brain and summons his confidence? A donut. I bought a chocolate donut the size of my face from a nearby food stall. I was ready. I walked backed over and took a knee. "Excuse me, can I take a picture of you?" The boredom on her face suddenly transformed in a sheepish laugh and her hand touched her chest. "Why do you want to take a picture of me?" "It's just for fun. The color of your shirt surrounded by the green wall is beautiful". I could sense how embarrassed she was. I said, "You don't need to look at the camera, just continue to look at your phone". She said, "Ok". But I knew that as I quickly framed the picture and took a few shots, the phone was now the last thing on her mind. "Thank you so much. I can send you the photo if you want?" "No, no it's ok". She blushed and kept laughing as we said our goodbyes.
