#nanowrimo update: 37,632 words. 65 pages in Google Docs. My most important realization during nanowrimo is that I've started to run out of excuses. I thought I needed to stick with the same routine and schedule each day, but I don't think I've written in the same spot twice. I thought I needed to work in the mornings, but I've been able to write thousands of words in the afternoons and nights. I thought I needed a cool temperature, but I've been able to write with droplets of sweat running down my face. I thought I needed a desk, but I've been able to write with my right shoulder touching the guy next to me, a curtain hitting the left side of my face, and my laptop on my lap on a crowded bus. I don't know if I'll ever publish this novel, but I'm no longer tolerant of any excuses my mind might create. And that may be more powerful than putting 50k words on paper. #nanowrimo2019
