View this post on Instagram I visited the Bendemeer Hawker Centre. If you do a google search for best hawker centers in Singapore, it won't come up. It's a bit off the path. I sat eating Kaya toast; toasted bread filled with butter and coconut jam which I dipped into two soft-boiled eggs with dark soy sauce and white pepper. A Singaporean guy in his 60s sat down directly opposite me on a four-seat table. He asked, "What you doing here?" "I'm traveling and exploring Singapore." "No, here, here. This very local." He's never seen a tourist at this Hawker Centre before. He keeps smiling and is very happy to see me here. He asks, "Where is your wife?". "I don't have one yet. I'm looking. Maybe I find one in Singapore?". He says the women are good here. I nod. We talked about racial relations in Singapore and how Chinese, Malaysian, and Indian people live harmoniously. I asked about languages. He told me how everyone speaks their mother tongue at home, but learning English at school is compulsory. He's Malaysian, but can speak mandarin fluently because he has many Chinese friends. The above photo are the Gardens By The Bay. Or maybe structures planted by aliens? #a7iii | 24-70 F2.8 GM | 26mm | f2.8 | 1/30 | ISO 4000 A post shared by Kamil (@kamil.skwarek) on Nov 3, 2019 at 6:14am PST Kamil SkwarekNovember 3, 20191 Comment Facebook0 Twitter LinkedIn0 Reddit 0 Likes
